This last Sunday we were able to deliver something we have worked on since 2015. This event was supposed to be done last year. However, with the construction and all the improvements expected in Ybor City we were asked to wait. We didn’t have to wait but being that we wanted better roads and such we waited. We wanted to rebranded Cars and Beaches to not be tied to a beach, we wanted it to be more organized so we picked 4 areas Ybor City, St Pete, Daytona, and Lakeland. Lakeland was first because Ybor wasn’t ready and Daytona was too far for a first event. We got the ok for Ybor City last year and we went to work.
The City of Tampa, Fire, Police, and the YCDC have been nothing less than amazing. Dealing with the meetings, hearings, emails, phone calls, reaching out, resources. As for us it was a new dynamic and we wanted to deliver something that really showed the picturesque quality of our city. Ybor has a rich historic Cuban culture and it’s amazing how many cool locations for shoots and different things come out of Ybor. Restaurants and businesses were supposed to be a large factor of the experience but many of them didn’t know what we were capable of so many of them played the sideline. Those that took a risk I believe reaped the benefits. This location caused us to use a lottery system for vendors. We are thankful to have had Motorsports by Reeves title sponsor the event. Everyone else that was able to pay promptly was accepted into the event as vendors as long as they sold different items. Gaspar’s Grotto and DJ Knox James Knox were definitely the MVPs they gave us entertainment throughout the day. They were also the main bar and restroom area for the event.
The limelight this year was managed by Steven Peralta and me. We were only able to pick what was submitted. I swear there were nice cars around the event that should have been in the limelight. However, the lottery picks for these events are only as good as cars that are submitted. We don’t believe in going around social media and begging any soul to come to any of our events
Without the vendors, sponsors, LIMELIGHT!!!! and all of you that came out bought something for us and the vendors. This event would not have been as good. The rain was trolling us all weekend too lol. We have a lot to be thankful for.
Anyways without the vendors, sponsors, LIMELIGHT!!!! and all of you that came out bought something for us and the vendors. This event would not have been as good.
