Cars and Soca | Tampa After Dark
I took a moment to step out to Cars & Soca in Tampa this weekend and it was exactly as advertised. Cars, and Soca. From the roll-in you can hear the music bumpin'. S/O's to Freedom Sounds. They hold it down with their set at Winterfest each year. All familiar sounds and vibes as some of you know I'm Guyanese.
A few things, it was about to rain during the event as you can see some rain on a few of the cars. I believe it was their first time hosting this event at night. As normal with night events, the visual isn't always depicted the best in photos. Trust me I had a fun time with my fastest lens and no tripod. Reelections killed me too and I had no modifiers.
Over all, I enjoyed the experience and the opportunity to see how hosting an event at night could be done. I do hope to be able to attend more of their events as they do embrace my native culture and love for car events. I didn't even get a chance to try the food from any of the vendors. I did grab a few beers. I really wish they had a vendor with imported beers that would be amazing. I could imagine bussin a Banks beer at a car show that would be great.
My only feedback would be to let the participants that came with sound systems play their sound at intervals. Make it a part of the event even, that would something to witness. It was too much when everyone tried to play at the same time including the music that was already being played by the host. It was my first time at this venue and I felt as if this event has already outgrown it. I'd love to see this event at a larger venue.
I'll try to vend at their next Tampa or Orlando event. It would be sick to build a Guyanese capsule for our brand. This event certainly motivates that.
